Abstract

We show that the basic rule of quantum mechanics, Born’s rule, can be obtained as the result of counting of discrete events produced as clicks of photo detectors of the threshold type. Opposite to quasi-classical models, our model gives the values of the coefficient of second order coherence which are less than one. However, the value of this coefficient depends fundamentally on such a “technicality” as discrimination threshold. In principle, this dependence can be tested experimentally.
